CONSTANTIA STABLES ACCOMMODATION

Welcome To Constantia Stables

Constantia Stables Accommodation, In the Constantia Valley in Cape Town, surrounded by wine farms, a long winding drive-way leads to a stunning secluded spot of indigenous gardens and beautifully renovated stable buildings. Historical green stable doors open onto an ivy fringed courtyard, which overlooks the pool and a mass of plants spread out beneath two enormous Plane trees in the large grounds …
Welcome to Constantia Stables!

The Constantia Stables has been run as a guest house for the past 30 years by the owners Rick & Lola who are proudly South African. They offer a unique experience in their charming character filled home and are there to provide a 24hr service.

Constantia Stables is proud of its 4 star grading award by The Tourism Grading Council of SA.

Voted Top 5 B&B by the British Sunday Independant!

A lovely breakfast room leads to a full library with comfortable arm chairs.

“My mouth watered as Lola reeled off her gargantuan breakfast menu: fresh fruit salad with home-grown guava, quince and peaches, hams, salamis, a giant cheese board, yoghurts, cereals and croissants and that’s before you even think about cooked delights.” – Greenwood Guide

The Bartlett children are actors and their photo’s are hung across the drawing room and bar area. This is the heart of The Stables – a congenial snug of heavy armchairs, low beams, earth red walls and log fires, where guests are encouraged to tap into a well stocked bar.

Our Home from Home. I've written a few reviews on Tripadvisor, and they've been on places recently visited for the first time. This results in our very favourite, most frequently visited places missing out! Four of these stand out; and it is my intention to write a review of each of them. They are :- Millgate House, Richmond, N. Yorkshire; The Stables, Constantia, S. Africa; Clos Marcamps in Prignac-et-Marcamps, near Bordeaux; Posada Terra Santa, Palma, Mallorca. This review is for The Stables. We have been regular visitors to this haven for at least 20 years. Our 'Lily's Cottage' is separate from the main guest house; a bedroom and shower at either end, with the kitchen/diner plus lounge area in the middle, a veranda with table, chairs and loungers -- perfect for us as I snore and my wife is a very light sleeper -- not a good combination?!? Lola Bartlett, our hostess is a wonder! Age doesn't seem to catch up with her. She provides us with the most sumptuous breakfast every morning. If you think mushrooms with your sausage, bacon and egg sounds rather dull -- then you haven't tasted Lola's! The little bar in the evening is a joy. You meet a few of your fellow guests -- in our case, often a reunion. Then we cook something light in the cottage, having eaten extremely well at lunch time. In our experience, South African food, especially in the vineyards. is exceptional. Lola's gardeners (two brothers; Innocent and Gervasio) become friends, and the lovely Mercy looks after our cottage. The garden itself is looked after by the two boys and Lola with love -- so peaceful; no electric fences or barriers round the property; yet we feel totally safe. We are both over eighty now, but that doesn't stop us going back for the second time this year in November. Maybe see you there? You won't be disappointed!!,,

Another wonderful stay Constantia Stables is the most wonderful place to stay. A little haven tucked away in Constantia surrounded by the most beautifully landscaped gardens. Its a great location to explore the Cape. We have dipped in and out staying here whilst travelling around the Cape and also stayed for longer periods of time and always have the most wonderful welcome and are thoroughly well looked after during our stays. This is down to the fabulous Lola who runs the Stables. Lola is a perfect host and will go out of her way to ensure your stay is memorable hence why so many people return year after year. The accommodation is very comfortable and its lovely to have your room cleaned and beds made every day. The breakfasts are WOW with a of fruit, vast selection of fresh fruit, cheeses and an array of cooked selections all of which are amazing. I can't recommend The Stables highly enough - it deserves more than 5 Stars!! Lola and her team do an amazing job in ensuring your stay is a memorable one.

The hospitality in Constantia Stables is unsurpassed. We had a wonderful autumn holiday in the Constatia Stables. Normally we travel through South Africa en start and finish at the Stables. This time we stayed there for 17 days. There is so much to do from the save haven that the Stables is. We went whale-watching in Hermanus, had lunch in Franschhoek and in Stellenbosch (Delheim), went to th Cape of Good Hope, had lots of walks in the neighborhood of our B&B (Silvermine NP and Alphentrail). You are so close to all the good restaurants at the wine farms in Constantia. (Don't forget to go to the Norval Museum down the road and walk in the sculpture garden.) And you are so close to the beach in Campsbay en to the City. 17 days in this loverly B&B wasn't enough. The rooms are well decorated, clean and the beds are wonderful. The garden of the Stables is an oasis of tranquility and beauty. The Breakfast is really all you can ask for. And the hospitality of Lola Bartlett is unsurpassed. If you want a good stay in Cape-town or in Constantia, treat yourself to the very reasonably priced Constantia Stables.

Home from home I love staying with Lola Bartlett at the Constantia Stables. It feels like home. Warm, inviting and beautiful. The gardens are glorious and the ambience wonderful. The Stables are perfectly situated for any of Caoe Town's activities - beach, wine farms and wonderful restarants. Thank you for another lovely stay and I'll be back in January!

Hidden paradise in Constantia What a wonderful place! It felt like time stood still. Beautiful rooms with a very comfortable bed. Lola the owner will spoil you during breakfast. There is a big fireplace if you want to drink a g&t in the evening. Even a swimming pool to cool down a little bit is available. If you are looking for a comfortable place with an “old fashioned “ quality and hospitality, do not hesitate and make reservations as soon as you can

A real gem Very well located, lush garden, secure, comfortable cottage style rooms, killer breakfasts, free pre-dinner drinks and last but not least the very hospitable and friendly hostess Lola Bartlett. We keep coming back to The Stables ever since we discovered it some 15 years ago. This year we stayed for a number of weeks in March and October. Highly recommended!

Wonderful again We have been here quite a few times before and the level of comfort and service remains up to standard. The gardens are well kept, as are the rooms. Staff are very friendly, the owner exceptionally attentive and the location very convenient in the Constantia wine area. If you want to be pampered, you should stay here.

Great B&B in Constantia/Cape Town Of course there are thousands of B&B's in Cape Town. But only one is the best: Constantia Stables. A small entrance leads tot a beautiful garden with several cape dutch cottages. The rooms are a good size and warmly decorated, all with an ensuite shower/bath. This already makes Constantia Stables great. But even better is your host, Lola Bartlett. She makes you feel welcome. She organizes free pre-dinner drinks in her bar and makes a killer breakfast. It is all so personal and with a hospitality that is unsurpassed. I loved my stay at the Constantia Stables. Close to everything an far away from the hustle. Save, nice, private and very kind. I definitely will be back as lots of Lola's other customers are no first timers. And now I know why.
